Nunavut
Welcome to Canada's newest territory! Nunavut, "Our Land", where fiords grace the landscape, polar bears roam the floe edge and Northern Lights dance in the sky. Nunavut The birth of Nunavut in 1999 gave the Inuit of Canada's eastern and central Arctic an opportunity to proudly showcase their culture and land well into the new millennium. Encompassing an area of 2.1 million square kilometers -- that's 1/4 the size of the United States -- Nunavut truly has something for everyone! Canadiana Collections, working with the Nunavut Development Corporation, is proud to be able to offer some special Nunavut Collections that are all hand-made by various artisans of the True North. We have provided a map of Nunavut so that you can discover for yourself the origin of the treasures we offer. Nunavut Can you find Taloyoak on this map?

Canadiana Collections is very proud and excited to provide through the cooperation of the Nunavut Development Corporation, an initial collection of original carvings. Each carving includes a certificate of authenticity. The individual artist will mark his or her original in one of three ways (they do not use the the same method each time). It could be their signature, their government-issued artisan identification number, or a syllabic inscription using the Inuit alphabet. Our initial collection is produced from one of three naturally found materials: serpentine (a rock with a greasy or silky luster having a common greenish color and often veined or spotted), argillite (a gray-black rock that is like both shale and slate, but doesn't split or crack like slate), or caribou antler (naturally fallen caribou antlers that are collected by the artist for carving). Please note: Inventory of these items is kept in Central Canada and delivery should be approximately three weeks maximum. Shipments will go via courier. As each piece is carved from natural material, the colour, texture and graining will vary with each item.
