Canadiana Collections is excited to introduce you to an amazing woman: Leslie Ward. Leslie is a self-taught artist who lives on Kramer Lake, near Kenora in Northern Ontario, Canada. Loons on the water, eagles in the sky, and birds of the woodlands continue to provide inspiration for Leslie. Her value and appreciation of all that surrounds her is clearly captured in each piece she paints. Every image she creates in the Upon This Rock Collection is an original painting.
Found on the shores of the Lake of the Woods, flagstone and slate is collected and hand split by the artist. Variations of colour and grain makes this a unique canvas on which Leslie paints her images. Contrasting the strength in the rock is the delicate fraility of the images that Leslie produces through her imaginative artistic process.
The sizes of each piece are approximate and each piece of slate has its own unique colour characteristics. Each item is fitted with a small leather cord ready for hanging. Some may prefer to use a standard plate rack for table display. Leslie also sprays a special protective coat on each finished piece so that it can be wiped clean by a soft damp cloth.
Each piece is truly original which makes the Upon This Rock Collection very special.
